The kAIber team is developing the Mammogram Images Quality Assurance System (MIQAS), which uses artificial intelligence methods to improve the quality of the process of capturing diagnostic images or mammograms for the early detection of breast cancer. Their solution allows for immediate assessment of the quality of the images by instantly identifying and displaying errors, allowing the mammogram to be repeated straight away. Not only does the solution increase the efficiency of the diagnostic imaging process itself, but it also avoids unnecessary stress for the patient, who usually thinks of the worst when she has to go back for a repeat scan due to an inadequate image. There is no competition in the EU market, which is attributed to regulatory constraints, but the kAIber team is addressing that by integrating the solution into an existing system to ensure that sensitive personal data never leaves the institution.
