Celje-based startup VIAR, recipient of Slovene Enterprise Fund’s SK75 investment, succeeded in obtaining an investment in the amount of 105,000 USD and a place in the programme of the esteemed high-tech American B2B accelerator 9mile Labs from Seattle. Part of the team already traveled to Seattle, where they will stay up until the end of October when they will pitch at the demo day to contend for a new investment round. Additionally, the well-tuned 8 members of the team are expanding and inviting new co-workers into their ranks in the summer. They will share a passion towards developing the latest products in the field of virtual reality.
Development of a breakthrough VR platform
VIAR is developing two products in the field of virtual reality. The first, more established one, are custom-made virtual reality glasses ViarBox. The second, which is currently undergoing intense development, is the web platform VIAR360. It enables anyone to create a story in virtual reality, no programming needed.Famous Disney also among their customers
The team, led by Jernej Mirt and Blaž Zafošnik, already collaborated with several well-known companies, such as Samsung, Epson, Sphericam … Their glasses were also presented at TechCrunch Disrupt in New York as part of the offer from Timelooper, one of the winning teams. The esteemed American B2B entrepreneurship accelerator 9mile Labs was founded by former leading staff from corporations such as Microsoft, Amazon etc. The Viar team found out about obtaining the investment in the amount of 105,000 USD even before the entire selection process ended, because they apparently enthused the evaluation committee with their sales orientation, resourcefulness of the team and potential of the web platform VIAR360.Market access and excellent mentorship
“What we primarily anticipate from the investment and participation in the accelerator programme is access to the market, collaboration with excellent mentors and help establishing the sales team. We are in Seattle from 27 June. Besides me and Blaž Zafošnik, our CTO and general hacker Marko Munda as well as growth guru Dejan Gajšek are traveling there too,” said Jernej Mirt, one of the company’s co-founders.Write to them or pass it forward!
Katarina Kresić, Aleš Mohorič, Matic Mirt and Živa Manfreda are thus staying in Celje, in the Savinja Region Incubator. Over the summer, the team will definitely be joined by a new web developer who will strengthen the development team – they are mostly expecting knowledge of php, laravel, mysql, java script, css and html5. Besides this, there are three other positions open in marketing and one engineering position in video streaming.
