State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport Matevž Frangež presented the starting points of the Slovenian Startup Strategy at a meeting with journalists at Podim, one of the most influential startup and technology events in Central and Eastern Europe. The goal of the strategy, which was developed in cooperation with active stakeholders in the ecosystem, is to secure Slovenia's place among the most startup- and talent-friendly countries by 2030 and, above all, to create the conditions for significantly faster economic development by increasing the share of high-tech companies in GDP. The strategy contains concrete proposals in five key areas: a supportive environment for startups and scaleups, a new legal form of organization for startups, a startup visa, the development of the venture capital market and a solution for the exercise of stock options.
Matevž Frangež, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport, said: "We see startups, their innovative ideas and approaches as a way to dynamic economic progress. We believe in new products and solutions that will be the result of Slovenian knowledge, innovation and design."
