The innovative outboard electric motor Remigo was presented among the finalists at the Venice Nautical Salon as part of a special exhibition on the future of sustainable water mobility - MUVE Yacht Projects. Remigo is a product of the Slovenian startup company Remigo d.o.o., which was the recipient of P2 funds in 2019 and SK75 from the Slovene Enterprise Fund in 2020.
About Muve Yacht Projects
In the heart of Venice, the established Italian nautical fair Salone Nautico Venezia took place between 29 May and 6 June this year, where more than 160 exhibitors with 220 vessels presented themselves. The fair also included a special exhibition MUVE Yacht Projects, which focused on the future of sustainable mobility. The international call is intended for design projects that are ideologically, substantively or materially moving away from classical practice and thus approaching the sustainable world we want in the future.
Remigo - MUVE Yacht Projects Finalist
Among the sixteen finalists who managed to present themselves at the exhibition and received an award for innovation, Remigo electric outboard motor was one of them. It is a small electric motor for boats of the Slovenian startup company and manufacturer Remigo d.o.o., which replaces 3HP petrol engines.
Ajda Bertok, industrial designer, who designed Remigo's engine, said:
»The possibility to present ourselves at this exhibition, which sets the trends of nautical development, means great recognition for our work and confirmation that we are on the right track«.

Reputable Jury
54 individuals and companies responded to the international call with their projects. For the selection of the projects that will later be presented in the city's Arsenale, the Venetian mayor convened a jury of experts consisting of four important names from design, industry and academia: Alberto Bassi, Sean Mc Cartan, Gabriella Belli and Carlo Nuvolari-Duodo.
Remigo convinced the expert jury not only with a unique look reminiscent of a control sheet, but also with its advanced vision of an electric motor, which is the first in the world to have batteries integrated into a waterproof aluminum housing. This gives the advantage of zero maintenance and much less wear due to contact with (salt) water in the long run.
Remigo Is the Product of Many Years of Observing Engine Problems, Listening and Talking to Sailors and Other Nautical Enthusiasts
The team of five Remigo creators also proved themselves by solving many other problems of existing boat engines. The engine is thus much lighter than the competition, and by simplifying the user interface and its use, Remigo has also attracted those nautical enthusiasts with less experience.
Marko Vrtovec, the founder and director of Remigo, said the following about the creation of Remigo and its inclusion in the exhibition:
»Remigo is the product of many years of observing engine problems in practice, and listening and talking to sailors, their teams and leisure enthusiasts. We made a lot of prototypes, tested them, learned from them and thought about the details of our product countless times. Even more than the fact that we have been noticed by the profession, it is important for us that Remigo is accepted by customers on the market.«
