The prestigious American accelerator SXSW from Austin, Texas, is inviting Slovenian high-tech startups to apply for their 2018 SXSW Accelerator Pitch Event, which will take place on 10 and 11 March 2018 as part of the resonant SXSW Festival. The application deadline is Friday, 10 November 2017. Applications are payable (220 dollars) but organizers offer startups the possibility of free application if you specifically alert them to the fact when applying.
In the past nine years, 403 startups have already been privy to support of the SXSW Accelerator, including teams such as Siri, Foodspotting, Tango and many others. All these companies have a 70 % success rate in collecting further investment rounds, which have together reached over four billion dollars already.
Companies that acquired the startups that grew in the SXSW Accelerator include corporations such as Apple, Google, British Telecom, Huffington Post and others. Besides strong media and investor attention that the startups pitching at the SXSW Festival receive, applying for the 2018 SXSW Accelerator Pitch Event is also worth it for the jury.
In the previous years, the jury included Tim Draper (DFJ), John Sculley (Apple/Pepsi), Paul Graham (Y Combinator), Naval Ravikant (AngelList), Guy Kawasaki (Alltop), Werner Vogels (Amazon), Laurie Segall (CNN) and many others, and SXSW conference organizers are promising an excellent jury member cast for the year 2018 as well.
